Environmental and Agricultural Education

The Lincolnshire Agricultural Society is itself an environmental charity whose founding objectives were the furtherance, welfare and progress of the agricultural industry and all connected professions. An industry whose bread and butter quite literally comes from the land, a new insight into mankind's dependance on and detrimental treament of natural resources resulted in the Society realising the importance of its educational role and from this the EPIC project (now EPIC Lincolnshire) began its mission to become an exemplar by building the £6m EPIC centre. A showcase of good design which results in greater efficiency and reduced impact on the environment which most importantly will impart knowledge (both the postive and negative) gained to all interested parties, to ensure that together we really can make a difference.

One of the many contributors to the EPIC project is the Lincolnshire Co-op, whose support of the project lead to the introduction of an Education Resources Manager who supports activites to create a more sustainable Lincolnshire. The EPIC Centre and the Lincolnshire Showground is the ideal location to learn and exchange ideas on how to ensure we enjoy the environment and maximise our positive rather than negative effect on it. Many schools, colleges and universities have already visited us .

Lincolnshire Agricultural Society's 270 acre showground comprises of established and young woodlands, open fields and a pond which are all richly biodiverse. With the added benefit of some excellent examples of how building techniques have evolved and, in the EPIC centre, how traditional and contempory architecture can work in perfect synergy. We have a wonderfully visible model of mankind's connnection to nature, our dependancy on it and why securing a sustainable future is so important.

We welcome partnerships with those who share our ethos and also offer a 50% discount on eight events per year who wish to run events using our facilities  where it fulfils our educational and environmental objectives.

Our educational events calendar contains information on what is happening locally that may be of interest to the education sector and young people. We also have a full list of environmental and sustainability events in Lincolnshire and beyond.
